| The Appraisal Institute has been working for the past few years to run our exam program through a testing center to create more flexibility and opportunity for our students. How to Schedule a Re-exam, Challenge, or OnlIne Exam
Re-Exam: Once students are notified that they have failed an exam, they will receive a re-exam application.
- Students will complete the form and return it to the Appraisal Institute with payment.
- Once payment is verified, the Specialist sends a confirmation email to the student.
- The confirmation will indicate an examination ID number assigned to that specific student.
- The confirmation will let students know that they should contact a Pearson VUE testing center at any time to schedule their exam.
Challenge Exam:
- Students will submit application for challenge.
- They will receive a confirmation with their examination ID number and contact information for Pearson VUE. Students will be sent the course material directly from Grubb & Ellis.
There will be a 4 week period between the application date and the date a student will be able to schedule their challenge exam, to allow proper study time.
Online Exam:
- This process will be automated through the Online Education website. Once a student completes their online course, they will receive an email with their examination ID number.
- Once they have their number, they can contact Pearson VUE directly to set up an appointment to take their exam.

In most cases, whenever a student wants to schedule it! Students can schedule exams during the day, in the evening and on some weekends.
Does the student have to be an experienced computer user and be able to type to take the computer-based examination?
The computer testing system has been designed so that those with even minimal computer experience and typing skills can use it. A tutorial will be available to each student at the testing center prior to taking the examination.
Is there a time limit for an exam?
There is an overall time limit for each examination, just as with the paper and pencil tests. However, most students complete their exam prior to time running out.
What are the test center hours?
Test center hours will vary. Students can get detailed information when they call to schedule their exam.
Will the student know at the end of the exam if they passed?
Exam results will be sent from the Appraisal Institute within 2 weeks of the date of the exam.
If a student fails, how does he/she retest?
To schedule a retest, the student will follow the same process that they did for with the prior attempt. The exam guidelines regarding the number of attempts without additional coursework will remain the same. (Students have 2 opportunities to re-exam a failed exam. If they are unsuccessful with those 2 attempts, they must entire course must be re-taken.)
