| The Massachusetts Chapter of the Appraisal Institute is pleased to sponsor course scholarships which are available to qualified minority and women applicants. The Scholarships are available to Massachusetts Chapter Associate Members, SRA's or RM's who are working toward their MAI designation.
Recipients of this year's scholarships will receive financial assistance in any upcoming core courses that are required for the MAI and SRA designation.
The Massachusetts Chapter of the Appraisal Institute Membership Diversity Committee will provide financial assistance based on eligibility requirements outlined on the application form. Deadline for submission is 45 days before the course begins.

Program Details
I. OBJECTIVES
- Provide tuitioin assistance for appraisal courses offered in Region IV during the current year.
II. ELIGIBILITY
- Minority as defined by the Appraisal Institute using US Census Bureau Guidelines.
- Open to any qualifying person in the Massachusetts Chapter.
- Must be an Associate Member, SRA or RM who is working toward the MAI designation with the Appraisal Institute.
- Must demonstrate a financial need.
- Applicant can apply for only the appraisal courses offered in Region IV during the current year.
III. APPLICATION PROCESS
- Write a 500-word written essay stating why applicant should be awarded the scholarship.
- An attestation that the scholarship will be applied toward tuition expenses.
- Recipients must attend a minimum of 2 chapter meetings unless special exceptions are approved by the Scholarship Committee.
- Submit all required paperwork by the established deadline. Applicants are asked to include a head and shoulders photograph as scholarship recipients will be profiled in Appraisal Institute newsletter/news releases or local real estate newspapers.
IV. SELECTION PROCESS
- Applicant submits completed application to the Massachusetts Chapter Membership Diversity Committee Representative.
- Scholarship Committee or other appointed committee reviews applications for eligibility.
- Applications are reviewed and sorted for other selection criteria, essays, read, etc.
- Applications are ranked.
- Scholarship Committee (or other appointed committee) makes final selection.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Applicants must be minorities identified by the US Census Bureau as follows: African American, Aleut, Asian, Asian American, Chinese American, Eskimo, Hispanic, Mexican, Mexican American, Native American, Puerto Rican, Spanish, and female.
- Applicant must be a United States Citizen.
- Applicant must have demonstrated financial need.
- Be an Associate Member or designated member of the Appraisal Institute working toward the SRA or MAI designation.
- Scholarships may be applied to Appraisal Institute core courses qualifying an individual for the SRA or MAI designation.
- Applicant must reside in or do business in the chapter area they are applying.
- Recipient must attend a minimum of two chapter meetings.
- Applicant must submit a list of completed Appraisal Institute courses.
- Applicant must must submit a resume or statement of qualification.
- Applicant must submit a 500 word essay stating why applicant deserves scholarship. Forms and letters sent via e-mail be accepted.
